Ephesians 5:1-2
August 16th 2026, third Lord’s Day of the Month
Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor
In today’s passage as well, we are taught about the walk of those who have been saved and made new. It is written that we are to be imitators of God.
First, we are to remember that we are God’s beloved children. Those who believe in Christ and have been saved are made children of God—indeed, children who are loved by Him. It is essential that we walk each day with a clear awareness of this.
Second, we are to imitate God the Father. We are not to walk without a model, but to take God’s own character as our goal and walk accordingly each day. As we do so, our inner life is gradually transformed, and we grow to be like the children of God as we truly are.
Third, we are to walk in love. As the role model of that love, the walk of Jesus who gave Himself up as a sacrifice, is described. The Lord loved those who were not deserved and offered all of Himself. His offering was the sacrifice to God. As those who are loved by God, we are to love God and to love the souls He has placed before us.
Though we are imperfect, let us daily seek to imitate God, becoming those who walk, being like His character!
<Word of the Bible>
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
