Ephesians 5:8-14
August 30th 2026, Fifth Lord’s Day of the Month
Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor
In today’s passage, we, Christians, are exhorted to walk as children of light.
First, we are to walk with a clear awareness of our place as children of light.We once were darkness, but now we have been made light. This is not the result of our own effort or works, but we have been made light in the Lord. We are to reflect the light of Christ and shine.
Second, we are to manifest the light of Christ through the fruit we bear. The first is the fruit of goodness—seeking the benefit of others. The second is the fruit of righteousness—not according to the standards of this world, but pursuing what God declares to be right. The third is the fruit of truth—walking before the Lord with a single, sincere heart, not with divided motives. In the midst of darkness, people will take notice of such light.
Third, we are to invite those who remain in darkness into the light of Christ. We must not participate in the works of darkness. Rather, by being light, we point others to Christ and call them into His light. Let us walk as children of light!
<Word of the Bible>
