Joshua 24: 14-15
January 4th 2026, First LORD’s Day of the Month
 Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor

As the people of Israel walked their lives in the land of Canaan, Joshua spoke to them about the things they should be careful to observe.

First, we should fear the LORD, serve Him with faithfulness and truth. When we remember the grace that God has given us, we will fear the LORD and serve Him with faithfulness and truth.

Second, we should remove idols from our hearts and serve the LORD. Unless we remove the idols from our hearts, they will eventually become gods, take control of our hearts, and we will end up with serving them. We must remove the idols.

Third, we should choose to serve the LORD today. No one can serve two masters, said the LORD. And if we don’t choose today, we often remain stuck in the same spiritual position.

A new year has begun. Let us remember that today’s choice will shape one year and our lives ahead. Let us try to make the right choice!

<The Word of the Bible>
And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Joshua 24:15 (English Standard Version)
