Ephesians 4: 7-13
July 12th 2026, Second Lord’s Day of the Month
Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor

Last time, we learned about maintaining unity by the Spirit, so that we may walk in a manner worthy of our calling. Today’s passage begins with the word “But”.

First, we should faithfully use the grace and gifts given to us. The Lord has bestowed grace upon each of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. We should rightly recognize that and use them faithfully for the Lord and the church.

Second, we should keep in mind the goal of building up the body of Christ. Christ Himself gave pastors, teachers, and evangelists to equip the saints for the work of ministry. We were saved not merely to go to heaven, but to build up the Lord’s church.

Third, we should aim to attain to the measure of the stature of Christ. This is a goal not just for selected a few, but for all of us. To what extent are we like Christ?

Relying on the Lord and walking alongside the brothers and sisters He has led to our church, let us be equipped by the Word, build up the church, and walk in the likeness of Christ!

until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,
