Joshua 14: 6-13
May 4th 2025, First Holy Day of the Month
Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor
After the Israelites entered the land of Canaan, when Joshua wanted to distribute the land, Caleb asked to be given the land of Hebron. Let us learn from the three things in Caleb’s faith.
The first is faith to remember. Caleb well remembered the events of 45 years before. He fully remembered the LORD’s promise he had heard 45 years earlier. We also have His promises which we should always remember.
The second is faith to follow through. I think we tend to give up if 45 years have passed. But he stood in faith and tried to follow the LORD through. It is important also for us to have the same mindset. We must not go with the flow of this world, but walk consciously to follow the LORD through to the end.
The third is faith to challenge. Caleb had been preparing based on the LORD’s promise. And he took up the challenge. Let us also be equipped with faith, based on the LORD’s promise. Let us challenge and move forward even if the situation is difficult.
Let us not be carried away by our surroundings, but follow the LORD through to the end by faith!
<The Word of the Bible>
So now give me this hill country of which the LORD spoke on that day, for you heard on that day how the Anakim were there, with great fortified cities. It may be that the LORD will be with me, and I shall drive them out just as the LORD said.”.
Joshua 14: 12 (English Standard Version)
