Ephesians 5:21-24

The passage contains teachings regarding the wife’s role in the marital relationship. Wives are instructed to submit to their husbands. However, this does not imply that the husbands are superior and the wife inferior. There is the relationship with Christ in its foundation.
First, we should correct our relationship with Christ at first. We often tend to think that things would improve if the other would change. Yet, we need to examine if we ourselves are in a right relationship with Christ at first.
Second, we should humble ourselves, just as Christ did. Although the Lord was worthy of being worshipped and served, he humbled himself to the lowest, served others, and ultimately died on the cross. We need to follow the example of Christ, and become humble.
Third, we should make our home a place where Christ is visible. Here, we see the relationship between Christ and the Church reflected in the marital relationship. We need to ensure that Christ’s image can be seen through our families.
To create such a home, we need the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Let us walk led by the Spirit—both in our individual homes and in the church, God’s household—fixing our eyes on Christ and making these places where he can be seen.
