Luke 2:41-52
May 10th 2026, Second Lord’s Day of the Month
Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor
Today, on Mother’s Day, let us learn—through the path of Mary, the mother of Jesus—how we should walk when we find ourselves in situations we cannot understand.
First, we must remember that everything is under God’s sovereign rule: Jesus acted with the clear awareness that He was the Son of His heavenly Father. We too must remember that we ourselves, our children, and all things are of God and are under His sovereign care.
Second, even when we do not understand, we should treasure up God’s Word in our hearts: Mary did not fully understand what Jesus said at that moment, yet she kept His words in her heart. She held them within her and waited for the Lord to reveal His work. We should do the same.
Third, we must obey the Word of the Lord as it is: At the wedding in Cana, when the wine ran out, Mary told the servants to do whatever Jesus instructed. She had faith that obeying to the Lord’s Word is the assured way.
In our own lives as well, we encounter situations we cannot understand. In those moments, let us remember God’s sovereign rule, treasure His Word in our hearts, and walk in obedience to His Word!
<The Word of the Bible>
And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart.
