Zechariah: 1-4
August 17th 2025, Third Holy Day of the Month
Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor
Today, I would like to review the Book of Zechariah as a whole. After returning from exile in Babylon, the Israelites started rebuilding the temple. However, obstacles prevented the construction from continuing, leaving it unfinished. The LORD then sent Zechariah to preach His Word. Let us learn lessons as a whole.
The first is to focus on God s plan in the midst of hardship. At the time, Jerusalem was in ruins, but the LORD revealed His plan that He would become a wall, protect the city, bring many people, and a kingdom would be established. Also, we need to focus on God s plan, rather than focusing only on the current situation.
The second is to focus on the Savior. This book contains many Messianic prophecies. This shows us to remember that the Savior will certainly come. We too always need to keep our eyes on the Lord who is with us.
The third is to know the future and make the right choices. Future events were told. God wanted us to know the future and make the right choices. If we know the future, we too will know what choices we need to make today.
Our situation may be devastating now, but let us always return to the LORD, keep our eyes firmly on Him, and make the right choices to prepare for the future.
<The Word of the Bible>
Do not be like your father, to whom the former prophets cried out, LORD of hosts. Return from my Evil ways and from your evil d not hear or pay attention to me, declares the LORD.
Zechariah 1: 4 (English Standard Version)
