Psalm 77: 1-20
October 5th 2025, First Holy Day of the Month
Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor
Asaph, in his distress, cried out to God in prayer. In his prayer, he sometimes found himself wondering if God had forgotten His mercy. But God guided him. How should we walk in the midst of suffering?
The first is to pour out our hearts to God in prayer. Though he was in great distress, he turned his heart to God. He poured out what was in his heart and confessed to God as he prayed. And the LORD led him in his prayer.
The second is to remember that God’s ways are different from human ways. When things don’t go well as we hopes, we tend to become unsettled. But let us remember that the LORD prepares the best way, beyond human understanding.
The third is to recall God’s works and apply them to our future. As he prayed, he remembered how the LORD had delivered the people of Israel by making a way for them through the sea. The LORD prepares the way that cannot be seen yet and guides us along.
A hardship will come in which no one can see the way forward. Let us pour out our hearts in it and pray to the LORD, our Shepherd, believing that He has His way, and walk in obedience to His voice!
<The Word of the Bible>
I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your wonders of old.
I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds.
Psalm 77:11-12 (English Standard Version)
