Jeremiah 36: 21-32
August 24th 2025, Fourth Holy Day of the Month
 Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor

It was prophesied that the southern kingdom of Judah would be taken into Babylonian captivity. We need to learn what the Word of God brings to our lives, and respond correctly when the LORD speaks His Word to us.

First, the Word of God shows us the right path and urges us to repent. The LORD did not want the Kingdom of Judah to walk down the wrong path, so He gave them His word to guide them to the right direction. However, the king tore up the scroll and burned it in the fire. If we hear His Word but do not obey it, we are doing the same thing.

Second, the Word of God gives light to our lives. With no clear future in sight, King Jehoiakim relied on the light of this world. It is God's word that gives light to our lives.

Third, the Word of God teaches us the truth and sets us free. The king relied on his own wisdom and acted on his emotions. What he needed was the truth of God's Word, and freedom. Various things bind our hearts. That is why it is important to read the Word of God, to know the truth, and to be set free.

When the Word of God is spoken, let us respond correctly, be rooted in His Word, and walk in the truth!

<The Word of the Bible>
and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
