Luke 19: 1-10
September 28th 2025, Fourth Holy Day of the Month
Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor
Zacchaeus was a tax collector. Though he possessed great wealth, his heart was not satisfied. That was why, upon hearing that Jesus was coming to the town of Jericho, he wanted to see him by all means. Being small in stature, he climbed a tree. Jesus noticed Zacchaeus and approached him. Jesus came to him, called him by name, and had a fellowship with him in his house.
Zacchaeus believed in Jesus like a child. He welcomed Him into his place and fellowshipped him. After that, he was greatly changed. The joy of knowing the Lord's love changed him enormously, turned him from a taker into a giver. Those who have not yet believed in Jesus, please believe in Jesus simply and humbly like children, and receive joy from God.
Even we Christians may lose our joy at times. To prevent this, there are several things we should keep in mind:
The first is not to forget the love we have received from Jesus.
The second is to welcome Jesus into the center of our hearts every day.
The third is to be givers.
Let us remind that the joy in the Lord changes us!

So he (Zacchaeus) hurried and came down and received him (Jesus) joyfully.
