Mark 14: 1-9
March 15th 2026, Third Lord’s Day of the Month
Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor
Jesus was about to get arrested and killed on the cross. Before that, Mary poured her expensive ointment of nard over His head. The disciples got indignant, asking what for she wasted it so much. Let us learn from Mary’s faith.
Firstly, it was her faith to listen intently to God’s word. It is described that she listened intently to the words Jesus spoke. It is likely that she heard about the atoning death of Jesus. She listened carefully to God’s word.
Secondly, it was her faith to offer her utmost. This was her act of worship. She offered her very best to the Lord. Worship is offering oneself to the Lord.
Thirdly, it was her faith not to miss the opportunity. After this, it turned out that Jesus was arrested and killed on the cross. She seized this opportunity and made preparations for his burial in advance.
What kind of faith do we have? It begins with listening to the Lord’s word. Let us also seize every opportunity and offer our very best!
<The Word of the Bible>
She has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand for burial.
