John 19: 13-18 / 28-30
March 29th 2026, Fifth Lord’s Day of the Month
 Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor

Today we are learning from the path of sinful humanity and the path of our Lord, who is full of love.

First, we rejected the Lord. Governor Pilate examined Jesus and found no guilt in Him, and he sought to release Him. Yet the crowd cried out, “Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him!” Within us as well, lies the sinful inclination to cast the Lord out from our hearts.

Second, even so, the Lord loved us and went forward to the cross. He walked toward the cross—a form of execution marked by terrible suffering and the deepest humiliation— out of obedience to God the Father, and out of love for us.

Third, the Lord’s love accomplished salvation to the very end. On the cross He declared, It is finished.” To save us, the Lord endured suffering to the end, and brought salvation to be completed.

How, then, should we walk as those who remember the Lord’s love? We must watch over our own sin. We must not doubt His love. And we must live in response to His love. Let us continually remember the love of the Lord who loved us to the end, and walk in a way that responds to His love!

<The Word of the Bible>
When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and He bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
