Ephesians 1: 17-20
February 1st 2026, First LORD’s Day of the Month
Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor
Let us learn from the prayer that the Apostle Paul offered.
First, it is a prayer that we may come to know the Lord more deeply. This does not merely refer to intellectual knowledge, but to know God more profoundly through personal experience. For this to take place, we must yield ourselves to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Second, it is a prayer that we may see the hope in the Lord. It is essential that the eyes of our hearts be clearly enlightened. As the result, we are able to see the hope that is grounded in the Word of the Lord.
Third, it is a prayer that we may know the surpassing greatness of the Lord’s power. Great power has already been given to us who believe. Paul prayed that we would become aware of this power. Likewise, we are called to walk in reliance on the power of the Lord.
Let us offer this prayer to the Lord for ourselves, and also for our families and our brothers and sisters in Christ!

having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,
