Psalm 127:1-5
June 21st 2026, Third Lord’s Day of the Month
Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor
While this verse speaks of building the house and protecting the city, it can also Be interpreted as speaking about building and protecting families. It can also be applied to the life and the church. Let us learn what is necessary for building them.
The first is to make the LORD’s word as the foundation. If we build the Foundation on worldly ideas or our own thoughts, it will waver someday. However, when we build the foundation on the LORD’s word, it will never waver.
The Second is to rely on and entrust ourselves to the LORD. Trying to build by our own wisdom and strength will not work and will only lead to anxiety. Instead, when we trust in and entrust ourselves to the LORD, we can receive His peace.
The third is to nourish our children as gifts from the LORD. Since they are gifts from Him, we need to nourish them spiritually with the word of the LORD. This is also true for future generations.
Let us not build our families based on our own wisdom, strength, or worldly ways of thinking, but make the word of the LORD as the foundation, relying on and entrusting ourselves to Him!
<The Word of the Bible>
Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
Psalm 127: 1 (English Standard Version)
