Mark 14: 32-50
March 22nd 2026, Fourth Lord’s Day of the Month
Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor
Jesus took Peter and the others with him to a place called Gethsemane to pray. There were two aspects of this scene: One was in praying, and the other was in sleeping without prayer. Let us learn about the Lord’s steps and the steps we should follow.
Firstly, even in His suffering, the Lord walked toward the cross. He said his soul was so sorrowful that He felt as if he were dying, and He was greatly distressed and troubled. Though He prayed, “Remove this cup from me,” He followed the will of God the Father and walked straight toward the cross.
Secondly, even seeing His weak disciples, the Lord’s love for them remained unchanged. They were sleeping without prayer. And they abandoned Him, fled, and even denied Him. Yet, the Lord’s love for them did not change.
With these things in mind, how should we walk? One way is to stay awake and continue to pray to the Lord. Because our flesh is weak. Another important thing is to follow the Lord’s example and walk seeking His will. Let us keep seeking and following the Lord’s will while honestly expressing our wishes.
<The Word of the Bible>
Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Mark 14: 38 (English Standard Version)
