Zechariah 11: 1-6
June 29th 2025, Fifth Holy Day of the Month
Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor
Let us learn three things from today’s section.
The first is not to make a mistake in what we rely on. The cedar trees of Lebanon, the oak trees of Bashan, and the thick forest/jungle/thicket/swelling of the Jordan symbolized strength, beauty, and prosperity. But God foretold that He would burn them down. There are many things in this world that seem to be dependable, but let us remember that only the LORD can truly be relied upon.
The second is not to be indifferent to souls of others. The shepherd in verse 5 had no pity on the sheep, and he was driven by self-interest. Pastors should not be that kind of shepherd. If Christians are only concerned about themselves and not about the souls around them, then they are walking the same way as that kind of shepherd.
The third is not to postpone repentance. Because the people did not obey God’s voice, He handed them over to the wicked shepherd. God loves us and talks to us. Let us obey His voice in obedience.
Today we are listening to God’s voice. How we respond is the key. Let us listen To the Lord’s voice with an open heart and obey it immediately!
<The Word of the Bible>
For I will no longer have pity on the inhabitants of this land, declares the Lord.Behold, I will cause each of them to fall into the hand of his neighbor, and each into the hand of his king, and they shall crush the land, and I will deliver none from their hand.”
Zechariah 11: 6 (English Standard Version)
